Niger Delta Journal of Philosophy & African Values (NDJOP)

1. Introduction

All articles published in the Niger Delta Journal of Philosophy & African Values are made available under Creative Commons licenses. These licenses allow readers to freely access, read, and share scholarly work while respecting the rights of authors and the journal.

2. Default License

Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0)

Unless otherwise specified, all articles are published under this license by default.

This License Permits:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Attribution: Appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s)

Under the Following Terms:

  • NonCommercial: You may not use the material for commercial purposes
  • NoDerivatives: If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you may not distribute the modified material
  • No Additional Restrictions: You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits

3. Available License Options

Authors may choose from the following Creative Commons licenses when submitting their work:

CC BY 4.0

Allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the work, even commercially, as long as they credit the original author(s).

CC BY-SA 4.0

Similar to CC BY, but requires that adaptations be shared under the same license.

CC BY-NC 4.0

Allows distribution and adaptation for non-commercial purposes only, with credit to the original author(s).

CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 (Default)

Allows sharing only, for non-commercial purposes, without modifications, with credit to the original author(s).

CC BY-ND 4.0

Allows redistribution, commercial and non-commercial, as long as the work is passed along unchanged and in whole, with credit to the author(s).

CC BY-NC-SA 4.0

Allows others to remix, adapt, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as they credit the author(s) and license their new creations under identical terms.

4. Author Rights

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant NDJOP the right to first publication. Authors are free to:

  • Share their work in institutional or public repositories
  • Post preprints or accepted manuscripts on personal websites or preprint servers
  • Reuse their work in future publications (with appropriate citation to the original publication)
  • Translate or adapt their work (subject to the chosen license terms)

5. Reader Rights

Readers have the right to:

  • Access all published articles free of charge
  • Download and print articles for personal use
  • Share articles according to the specific Creative Commons license
  • Cite articles in their own work with proper attribution
